Overview

Situated on the western slope of Barra Hill, the A-Ma Temple is a historical site worshiping A-Ma (also known as Mazu and the Queen of Heaven), deemed the goddess of seafarers.

The site itself is the oldest temple in Macau, predating the founding of the city and was in fact of the source of its name. Nearby is Macau’s Maritime Museum, a must-see for those interested in both Sino-European relations and Macanese history.
