Our Lady of Carmel Church

Our Lady of Carmel Church Macau: Exterior

Overview

Built in 1885, the Our Lady of Carmel Church is the perfect for a little relaxation. Benches abound in the lovely garden within church grounds for worshippers and tourists alike.

With much of the Portuguese influence centred around the Macau Peninsula, the Our Lady of Carmel Church is the only Catholic church in Taipa. The church is also an attraction architecturally, embodying myriad elements of Neoclassical architecture.

Visitors, however, should remember that the attraction is still primarily a place of worship. As such, a strict dress code is enforced. Items such as skirts and sandals are forbidden. It is also one of the few places in Macau that offer mass in English.
